A note from Emily – How Persephone Violet started

emily-youngerI am Emily, pictured here to the
left aged just 4, it seems I have been destined to be a florist from a young age. Starting out my floral career aged just 10 years old I  started learning the
trade after asking my local florist for help with a table centre project for christmas in my last year of
primary school. After this time I was well and truly hooked, spending most holidays in the shop environment filled with enthusiasm and passion. 7 years on from the start of my floristry journey, I left my first shop where I had learned so much. This was to venture onto bigger and better things and I feel this is definitely what I have achieved to date.

EmilyAfter completing my A levels I started college for my level 3 Diploma and I took the leap to start Persephone Violet, my very own floristry business aged 18. Here I am 3 years later, Level 4 qualified, RHS Chelsea flower show competitor two years running and making floral dreams happen. The picture to the left is of me in 2015 with my very first RHS young florist of the year design, I came first gaining me a place in the final. I came in the top 12 under 25 florists in the UK in 2014. Again competing in May 2016 in the Young Florist of the Year category, I was awarded a bronze medal for my Brazilian carnival headers showcasing my inner floral designer.

Emily was named Young Business Person of the Year 2014 and 2016 by the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce celebrating her achievements in business. The judges were looking for someone under 25 who has already shown a flair for business, a willingness to learn, and a determination to succeed. To have been awarded this once is a great accolade but twice is a huge achievement.
